This role is the central engine for product innovation, requiring a unique blend of commercial acumen, technical depth, and executive presence. You will be responsible for orchestrating collaboration across the enterprise and with external partners to ensure our products are commercially successful, operationally sound, and strategically aligned.

Your Key Responsibilities Include:

  1. End-to-End Product Leadership: Manage the entire product development lifecycle from ideation and feasibility analysis to launch, post-launch review, and in-force management.

  1. Strategic Reinsurer Partnership:
  2. Lead engagements with reinsurers on product development, including negotiating terms, structuring reinsurance treaties, and securing optimal capacity and pricing for new initiatives.

  1. Cross-Functional Integration & Governance:
  2. Pricing Team: Partner with actuaries to develop pricing models, establish sound financial assumptions, and ensure products meet profitability targets.
  3. Marketing Team: Collaborate to conduct market research, define customer-centric features, and craft compelling go-to-market strategies.
  4. Underwriting & Claims Teams: Work closely to establish and document underwriting guidelines, claims adjudication processes, and policy terms & conditions.
  5. Risk & Compliance Functions: Partner proactively to ensure all product designs, marketing materials, and policy documents meet or exceed all regulatory and compliance standards. Conduct pre-emptive reviews and secure all necessary approvals.

  1. Product Committee Governance:
  2. Host and facilitate the Product Committee, preparing materials and presenting new product proposals, financial analyses, risk assessments, and compliance reviews to senior leadership for review and approval.

  1. Regulatory & Market Analysis: Monitor the evolving regulatory landscape and competitive environment for life and health products to ensure all designs are compliant and competitive.

  1. Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate product-related risks throughout the development process in collaboration with the Risk department.

The success of this role will be measured by:

  1. Product launch cadence
  2. Product attractiveness
  3. Product upgrade and enhancement cadence
  4. Cross-team collaboration feedback

Requirements

  1. Minimum of 8+ years of progressive experience in product development within the life and health insurance industry.
  2. Proven track record of developing and launching health and protection products (e.g., Critical Illness, Disability, Hospital Indemnity, Accident Insurance).
  3. Demonstrated experience negotiating with reinsurers and a deep understanding of reinsurance structures and their impact on product design.
  4. Strong experience collaborating with Underwriting and Claims departments to develop guidelines and policy terms.
  5. Experience preparing for and presenting to senior management committees or governance forums.
  6. Deep understanding of product mechanics, regulatory environments, and actuarial concepts (morbidity, pricing, valuation).
  7. Exceptional project management, negotiation, and executive-level presentation skills.
  8. Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  9. FSA, or other advanced degree/designation a strong plus.
