A leading investment bank is seeking a seasoned High Touch Sales Trader to join its institutional equities desk in Hong Kong. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and deepening relationships with a sophisticated institutional client base — spanning global long-only asset managers and hedge funds — while delivering best-in-class execution across global equity markets.
This is a high-impact, client-facing role that requires equal measures of trading acumen, commercial instinct, and relationship depth. The individual will work in close partnership with equity derivatives, research, electronic sales trading, and sales teams to deliver a seamless and differentiated client experience.
Key responsibilities
- Originate and capture revenue opportunities across an established institutional client franchise, while proactively developing new account relationships to grow the desk's market share
- Execute institutional client orders across global equity markets with precision, speed, and sound risk judgement — with particular expertise in large-scale block trade facilitation
- Serve as a trusted market voice for clients, delivering actionable market colour, flow intelligence, and high-conviction stock ideas to drive trading activity and deepen engagement
- Act as the primary point of contact for client enquiries, ensuring a consistently high standard of responsiveness and service across the full trade lifecycle
- Partner closely with equity derivatives, sales, research, and electronic sales trading teams to deliver comprehensive, coordinated coverage for priority accounts
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives including system optimisation, workflow enhancements, and strategic ad hoc projects to strengthen desk capabilities
- Mentor and develop junior sales trading talent, fostering a culture of excellence, client focus, and rigorous risk awareness
- Liaise with operations, compliance, and settlement teams to proactively resolve trade exceptions and settlement failures, ensuring robust end-to-end process integrity
Required experience
- Minimum 10 years of institutional equities experience with a strong focus on high touch sales trading
- Proven and extensive coverage of hedge funds and long-only asset managers across Asia and internationally
- Demonstrated expertise in block trade execution with a sharp sense of market risk and compliance obligations
- Deep familiarity with algorithmic trading strategies and electronic execution workflows
- SFC-licensed with Type 1 and Type 4 registrations; thorough knowledge of local and cross-border regulatory requirements
- Established institutional client network, with particular emphasis on international long-only and hedge fund relationships

- Knowledge of a programming language (Python, VBA, or equivalent) is a distinct advantage
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or above in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline
- SFC Type 1 (Dealing in Securities) and Type 4 (Advising on Securities) licences required
- Right to work in Hong Kong SAR
