Your new company We are currently hiring a MLRO for a fast-growing boutique foreign bank.
Your new role
Act as the MLRO for the Hong Kong entity, with primary responsibility for AML reporting to senior management and regulators.
- Oversee and manage transaction monitoring activities, including:
- Review and escalation of alerts and case
- Assessment of unusual and potentially suspicious transaction
- Decision-making on Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) and filings to the JFIU
- Ensure the effectiveness of the bank's AML / CFT framework, policies, and procedures in line with HKMA requirements
- Serve as the key liaison with regulators, auditors, and law enforcement on AML-related matters
- Provide guidance and challenge to business and operations on AML risks and controls
- Monitor changes in AML regulatory requirements and ensure timely implementation
- Prepare AML management reports and metrics for senior management and Head Office
- Support AML training and promote a strong compliance and risk culture across the bank
What you'll need to succeed
Minimum 8-12+ years' experience in AML / Financial Crime Compliance within the banking sector.
Prior experience acting as an MLRO or Deputy MLRO in Hong Kong.
Strong hands-on expertise in transaction monitoring, investigations, and STR decision-making
- Solid understanding of HKMA AML Guideline, AMLO, and JFIU reporting expectations
- Experience within a foreign or boutique bank is highly preferred.
- Strong judgment, independence, and ability to operate as a control function
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to engage regulators and senior stakeholders
- CAMS or equivalent AML certification is an advantage.
