Job Description

Job Summary

This is a global, hands-on role within the IT L&H Actuarial and Finance team, focused on enabling actuaries to work faster and with better control across their day-to-day analytics and computation needs. You will provide practical technical support and build fit-for-purpose data solutions that improve data readiness and analysis workflows, while applying strong standards for documentation, reproducibility, and compliant handling of sensitive data. The role strengthens our APAC time-zone coverage while working closely with colleagues across EU and NA.

The L&H Finance & Actuarial IT team provides the technology foundations that enable Actuarial and Finance functions across Life & Health. We design, oversee, and continuously enhance the systems, data flows, environments, and controls that support valuation, pricing, reporting, and related analytical processes. Our work combines reliable system and infrastructure support with hands-on enablement of analytics and computation needs, helping actuaries work efficiently without being slowed down by technical complexity or gaps in access. We continuously adapt our capabilities to meet both todays and tomorrow's business needs in a cost-effective and compliant manner.

In this role, you provide hands-on technical support to actuaries, helping them wrangle and prepare data efficiently and reliably. You design and build bespoke data solutions, both ad-hoc and production-ready, using our stack (R, Python, SQL, Snowflake, GitLab/Azure DevOps) to meet business demand quickly and with strong quality standards.

You actively develop, test and deploy solutions, working independently or in collaboration with team members as needed. You document what you build so it is easy to understand, reuse, and maintain, keeping dependencies and configuration up to date. You also troubleshoot and improve existing scripts and pipelines by resolving issues, refactoring code when required, and performing thoughtful code reviews.

You act as a trusted advisor to business users through 1:1 consulting and tailored training, enabling them to make effective use of the infrastructure and capabilities available. You champion best practices in scripting, version control, reproducibility and the secure, compliant handling of our data. You build strong partnerships across actuarial teams, develop a practical understanding of their needs and bottlenecks, and proactively identify ways to make their data work faster, more controlled, and easier to scale.

You collaborate closely with global team members to leverage shared expertise, and you liaise with other IT departments, acting as a bridge, to drive progress on broader business requests and dependencies.

About the Role

You are structured and reliable, with a strong sense of ownership and a can-do mindset. You are approachable and helpful, and you build trust easily by listening well and communicating clearly. You're comfortable working in multicultural environments and can adapt quickly as priorities and business needs evolve. Naturally curious and detail-oriented, you enjoy learning new technologies and applying them pragmatically. You bring strong problem-solving skills and a genuine drive to streamline manual work through smart, practical automation.

  • Ability to partner with actuaries to understand their challenges and convert them into actionable technical specifications and solution designs
  • Understanding of regulatory and compliance constraints for health and personal data
  • Actuarial knowledge is a plus
  • Experience with data masking or anonymization techniques is advantageous

Work Experience and Education

Technical Skills
  • Practical data wrangling skills for actuarial datasets including ingesting, mapping, and shaping data for analysis
  • Ability to implement checks for data integrity, completeness, and accuracy
  • Solid SQL skills and working knowledge of relational databases. Snowflake knowledge is a plus
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language such as R or Python
  • Working knowledge of Git and modern development workflows
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills for existing scripts and data solutions, with the ability to refactor safely when needed
  • Ability to investigate complex legacy Excel processes, document the logic, and support rebuilding them using our tech stack
  • Familiarity with BI tools (PowerBI)

Work Experiece and Education
  • 2+years PQE, Bachelors /Masters Degree
