A good nights sleep 7 - 8hrs

Exercise regularly.. more that three times a week

Eat a balanced diet

Limit drinking alchol to once a week if you have to

Sex

Don't smoke cigarettes

That is my recipe for glowing skin

True, those r the primary things needed for healthy skin..... but what about all those skin care creams etc that females buy and empty thier purses for lancome, chanel, clarins etc?

They're all useless unless you're doing all the thigs gb suggested. It's true that it comes from within. If you lead a relatively healthy lifestyle ýou''re more than half way there. I use Origins Make a Difference and find it gives a nice glow. Don't go spending vast amounts of money I've shlled out for La Mer and found that it did nothing.

I don't know if it works for oily skin but I have found pure collagen to be excellent. I have used many many brands and have discovered 100% collagen to be excellent. I am currently using a brand from Japan but there are many brands that do 100% collagen. It makes my skin very supple and a few people have commented on how well my skin is recently including my hubbie. Many hk girls don't get a good diet and enough sleep but they have good skin as they use moisturising masks every day. I think that can work too, but if you have oily skin, I think you need to treat from inside, eg diet.

Please give the names of the products and where to find them! it is impossible to learn about these by just saying "i want a 100% collagen cream". I look for the specific item(name brand) and then ask questions about it. I personally am done with searching department store creams, i go to my dermatologist, tell her/him what i want and need and i get the creams at the doctors office. Have consulted 2 dermatologist and the 1 thing they always say is SUNSCREEN every day. After that the only products i will swear by that i personally think are wonderful are the Elemis brand, found at Elemis spa, the Beautiful skin, and Frederique.

For the same price you can get great quality things from Dr Tinny Ho at Quality Health Care - she is a whizz at know exactly what to use. Vit amin c&e serum are her two miracle workers as well as pha and aha.s She is the only one in HK who in tune with the beauty side as well as the medical condition side. She's pretty and knows we want to keep our skin nice too.

Those were some really nice replies. Yes i know that oily skin needs care from within,,,,, but i was getting at was that i needed recommendations on those products for oily / combination skin. Apart from shelling out the pockets... is there anything available in hk?

OH i forgot to ask, that i've been hearing that rosehip oil is good for treating scars etc too....has anyone been taking them orally or applying the oil?

I tried rosehip oil during my teenage years, I didn't notice alot of change. However I am not a very patient person so I am not sure if it works over a long period of time. If you are not scared of laser work, then I think it is worth trying for ance scars. Currently, I am using Fancl for my normal skin care as they claim there is no preservatives. As for the 100% collagen, I buy from a shop called Lan Lan. They import that from Japan. I bought two bottles a few weeks ago (one to send to my mother in Aust). It costed me $774 for two bottles. One bottle should last you about 6 weeks - 8 weeks. My only lasted about 4 as my husband uses it too.

Oyster, do they charge a lot at the Health Centre? Where is Tinny Ho located when I called up the phone directory, I was asked which branch number. Please tell me more about it before I approach them...

She is associated with Quality Health Care in the Princes Bldg. Don't have the fone number handy, sorrry.

Oh and they will fax you a price list tho it won't be exact if she does multiple services ie botox, peels, skin disease treatments, etc. She is expensive for a local derm but she also spends a lot of time and tackles your whole being instead of one thing. She does not oversell tho.

I've tried lots of crams over the years.

My dermatologist tells me most are a useless waste of money.

The most effective cream I've ever used has 5% glycolic acid. It changes the texture of your skin and sloughs off all dead cells.

I too have oily/combination skin and the thing that I find works best: Tea tree oil from the body shop. I wash my face with a rough cloth or facial scrub well then apply the tea tree oil to any spots or blemishes that may appear. The next day they are GONE. Who would of thought oil works on oil. My secret weapon! And doesnt cost a fortune.

I also have oily/combination skin, I use break out so often. Tried so many over the counter zit creams/gels, commercial creams etc. When I was living in the UK a friend of mine introduced me to Dermalogica product and it was a miracle. They have a special clearing booster that I use evry evening and it prevents my face from breaking out. I have a lot of their products. I saw an ad from this salon Sense of Touch and they do carry Dermalogica I also tried their microdermabrasion 2x now and seems like my acne scars smoothened out even my wrinkles look softer and my skin brighter. I read in one of the girlie mags that Madonna and Jennifer Aniston goes for this microdermabrasion treatment regularly. Maybe can try this treatment.

Paris, could you tell us where you get your skin care in HK. Thanks

Paris

(Oct. 4, 04)

Robyn, I juggle between London and HK. I go to a very good salon in High Street Ken where I discovered Dermalogica now I found the Sense of Touch in Central and they also carry this product and use this in their facial treatments. Actually, here in HK they are generous with the facial massage compared to the UK..

What feedback would you give about the microdermabrasion? Did your skin turn red the whole day/week? I want to try it, I have pre-mature aging skin.

Andrea

(Oct. 5, 04)

I have a very good dermatologist. He tells me 'dermabrasion' is a huge rip off and has very little benefit for the skin.

i had many feedback many asian women were using this product to achieve beautiful skin. am keen to try it myself too...

I have made some research about the microdermabrasion. It is very popular and seems the treatment does work and make skin smooth. I was told Frederique Spa does this but the old version which is the Crystal Powder(which can be dangerous if it goes inside the eyes, I wear contact lenses), on the other hand, I read in the HK magazine promotion Sense of Touch spa uses the Intense diamond microdermabrasion. What is the difference?

I heard bird nest is good for your skin/complexion. Not sure about glowing skin.

Chiki, have you taken any of them?

One of my friend did ipl 3 sessionS! She is 48 and came out with beautiful skin! She said if you are younger you can see results at the 1st session and it is sufficient. Trying to find places that can do it in HK and prices.
