I am thinking of trying it out at my next visit to HK.

there seems to be alot of people who give the service in the privacy of their homes or come to you however i would rather go to a salon/shop. Any ideas?

Wouldn't bother, have been a few times and she made my hands orange. I looked as if I'd been Tango-ed.

U'd be better going to Elemis IMHO.

I had it done at The Firm - very quick and dried easily so I could go straight out. Had it done Saturday and its just starting to wear off now ( Wed)

PHoenix, when it wears off does it look like you're moulting or it just fades gradually?

Vulvic 21 yrs ago
No it shouldn't look orange at all. When it fades it does go a little patchy but no noticeabley so. I highly recommend spray tanning, far better than hours on a sunbed or by the pool.

Mine is fading gradually, although I might have to do a scrub later on , just to even it out a bit ( tops of my arm are fading faster due to rubbing against my tops) . It was not orange at all, they put vaseline on your eyebrows so no staining, and the spray is so light that there is no real excess of colour anywhere. I really would recommend it and will go back there myself.

Is spraying tanning done in a booth any good? I hear it's a lot lot cheaper than manual spray tanning. Actually does HK have any spray tan booths?

MaryKay 21 yrs ago
I prefer the booth to manual. I used to go in Canada. You stand in 4 different ways and it gets everything. You put this cream on the places you don't want tanned. It took I think 45 seconds. I always feel a bit uncomfortable with manual. I'd love to know if they have the booths here in Hong Kong!

Hey MaryKay I found it!!! They do both the spray on tan in a booth and the UV Solarium type ones.

Ladies, we are in HK not in Alaska!

Just enjoy the sun on the weekend and you will have a great looking, natural tant.

Play Tennis, go out for hiking, play Golf, relax on the pool or what ever.

No need for sprays or the expensive sessions!!

I tried the tanning booth in CWB and it was not good. I asked the manager to tell me what product they used before the tanning session and he would not tell me ( his English was excellent he just didn't want to disclose that information.) After the tanning session there were lots of drip marks where the spray had not dispersed evenly. These do come off after you shower however you still have to walk around looking a bit of a wally until you do.

Alternatively I have had manula spray using SunFX and the result is excellent, even tan as dark or as light as you wish and no drips.

Totally agree with spraying v.s sunbathing. Skin cancer runs in my family too and I don't want to take the risk for the sake of a strappy dress.

I had the same experience as Vulvic at Supertan..........the spray booth is not very good at all- I had drip marks in my face and lateron the manager told me I probably have dry skin there.........whatever........never went back.........I prefer the conventional way of sunbeds after that spraytan experience..............I also felt 'uncomfortable' after the spray-tan, my shirt & bra were stained and it didn't look evenly sprayed on my skin..........

Are you any good at self-application? I always use the Clarins self-tanning products if a need a top-up. They are easy to apply and not too dark. Another product I use is the Ambre Solaire 'spray tan' - another self tanning product and by far the best , but only available in Europe!

STAR & SHINE - Supertan is pretty shocking especially at those prices. The fade out was really bad too, went all patchy on my legs.

To be honest I didn't like the manager, he tried all ways to sell the package and qite frankly he annoyed me.

I also thought the spraying was too intense.......I could barely breath in that booth.....I thought about it as fine mist, but it was way too strong

Vulvic 21 yrs ago
I managed to hold my my breath for most of the tanning process until I had to finally exhale and took in a lung-full of that 'mist'. Very unpleasant.

Curious..do tan optimisers (sold in europe) actually work?

Never tried one to be honest but have heard horror stories of people turning orange on Imedeen.

Thanks for sharing the advice, I will definitely avoid the tanning booth in CWB. How long does the manual spray take?

I feel a bit stupid asking but is any tan bad for your skin? Like I've been out on the beach with my SPF50 reapplied every 30 mins and my skin does turn golden brown without burning so am I doing damage to my skin? Also are sunbeds really bad, worse than natural sunlight?

Please support our advertisers:
Blondie55 21 yrs ago
Manual spray takes about 20 mins but its fun. Its even and the sunfx one has a brown sugar base so it never goes orange.

And yes tanning is bad for your skin however sunscreen of course helps. Sunbeds are VERY bad. They are basically just concentrated UV so exposure is huge. I would go near one personally.
