There's a Walmart in Shenzen but haven't been there yet.

Shenzhen Walmart is OK - small compared to a USA one, when i went they did not accept credit cards.
It is situated across the road from the Shenzhen Bay Hotel about 1/2 km up the road. (Waklking distance)

you can try gateway they sell in american sizes but works out to be cheaper on the long run

Gateway sells Kirkland products, the same products that are sold at Costco. They just don't have the huge variety - it is a small shop.
Walmart in Shenzhen does sell a lot of things - but don't expect a USA style Walmart, it has been localised (which is very sensible considering the local market!), and has a lot of Chinese products in bulk. So you might not find what you would in the USA.
There used to be a Carrefour in HK, but it closed.
Taiwan has Costco and Carrefour and other big box style shops.
China has a lot of home DIY style shops now. But for HK you are best off in Wan Chai and Kowloon side looking for exactly what you need in terms of home DIY supplies.
Now, the good news is amazon.com has just about everything now from a large variety of shops, and you can order online and pay for HK delivery.
Walmart.com, target.com, kohls.com costco.com do not ship internationally.

although amazon ships internationally, it has a chinese website linked with joyo.com. but as every thing is in chinese it is useless for us expats.
and i dont kno but is it advisable and cheap to order from their american website for delivery to hk.
doesn't hk have its own version of amazon (not literally amazon but anything similar to it)

You'll find the local supermarkets and wet markets do a splendid job serving local consumers - some 98% of the population, many of whom live in 350 sq foot flats with little storage space. One or two warehouse clubs did open in HK but closed because of high rental costs (not everyone drives so had to be in higher rental areas) and consumers did not have the space.
As "foreign" things are shipped here in smaller quantities the prices are not that cheap. Although may not be necessarily cheap (don't know "original" prices), you could try the Foreign Buyers' Club - most items are by the case. Its catalogue is about 150 pages so you will have plenty of choice. Delivery I believe takes around a month, so not too bad. Can even deliver to Disco Bay, during the day.

any details on the Foreign Buyers Club would be appreciated. Do they have a web page?

Oops missed the link, sorry hkfun. It's
http://www.fbchk.com/
FYI, you might want to get a few pals together to make the minimum order amount, unless you are missing a lot of things.

i checked and mim order is 4000 hkd with a waiting period of 30 days ... oops too long.
but their product list is too vast and appears to be excellent. but the problem is its too long - 151 pages. it may take days to choose and create a order to satisfy their amount

Perhaps then there is a business opportunity for you to open such a warehouse - although no one yet has found a suitable business model that would succeed in Hong Kong.
There are also Prizemarts dotted around HK. Not a warehouse, but sells giant size bottles/boxes of things. Less choice than Grandmart.

If you wanna buy online, why not try a few good sites which all ship overseas, like yesasia.com, mabellelife.com, sa sa etc
