DVD to MP4 Player

Bought an MP4 player from Shenzhen yesterday. Have been trying to upload some kind of video files onto it, but haven't been able to view it at all. Audio Cd's have been ripped easily & I have also uploaded some photos to it, but no matter what I try, the DVD stuff isn't working. The Player came with some sort of a driver CD, but it is all in Chinese. I'm pretty sure it does play video though cos I saw the video demo on it, just not able to put any of the stuff I want on it!!!

Have managed to load the MP4 - needed to convert it into an AMV file - required an AMV converter ver 3.57 for it. Now the new problem is that I bought a 1GB player, but can only record about 18 songs on it, on reformatting th 2 GB player that I had bought, the memory went down to 116MB - looks like I have been duped big time!!!

Anyway to get the memory back

This is probably no use to you, but could be for future MP4 buyers.


MP4's are the next level up from MP3's, of course the well known ones are Apple Ipod Video and Creative Labs Zens. Are they worth purchasing? well you decide.


I came across the LCC in Shenzhen where MP4's are very common, after buying many, 2GB and 4GB, I have previously bought 1GB's from other parts of Shenzhen with no problems, saw what now turns out to be too good to be true.


Every MP4 player seems to come from a common part of the LCC, these will all have viruses on them. And, they will either show 2GB, 4GB and 8GB, now apparently the file size is masked. The 2gbs & 4gbs will load that amount of info on, but will completely fail to play, or play 7-20 songs. Why? because there 128MB MP4 players.


My suggestion: Don't buy MP4's from the LCC in Shenzhen.


You could always try to take it back, but you'll have to be a good negotiator. On my Y1200 purchase, I got Y1100 back!


At least with the Apples and Zen, buying them from Fortress, it's basically guaranteed!

Thanks for the reply - doubt if i'll get anything back now - this thread was posted almost a year back & I have given up on using the shenzhen stuff - I have bought the ipods instead - very happy with these...
