My 2-year old Dell laptop has just suddenly shut down and now is completely unresponsive. I can't turn it on at all and there are no signs of life (lights etc). It has been well-treated and there are no problems with fan/AC adaptor etc. I fear it may be motherboard related....Does anyone have any ideas?
Failing that, does anyone have any recommendations for trust-worthy places in HK that I might be able to take it to?
As you might have guessed I'm not an expert when it comes to this type of stuff, so all advice gratefully received....

Do to a virus they have to replace the hard drive? Sounds to me like folks in HK have discovered a new way to move hard drives! Sounds to me like you are being taken for a ride oyster! I would be interested in which "virus" they have identified that requires a hard drive replacement! Is it the rapidly profilerating "ripoff virus"?

yep ....... looks like a rip-off .... if virus attacks, you cant recover the hard-disk unless it is not the C drive ...

oh my god. that is raping. it is almost impossible thing to replace hardisk if some virus happened in ur computer

Yeah ....... Always partition your C drive and save important details in the partitioned one. HK900 is definitely a rip-off .... Even infected you can still read the hard-drive and save important info .... afterwhich need to reformat.
