does anyone know whether if there s a relation between breastfeeding and having a hair colouring /perming in the salon?meaning if there s any chemical that s to be passed thru the body to the baby?(to begin with,i know the 'leftover'smell from the lotion is abit hard to bear/smell for the baby.)but what about chemicals from the lotion being passed to the body?i have yet to rang up bf organisation to asked but friends told me to stay away from perming the hair during the course of bfg.how true is that?i just know that during pregancy we are told to stay away frm hair chemicals.

Personal grooming while breastfeeding: What are the effects of hair coloring and perms, tanning beds and nipple piercing?

According to the Breastfeeding Answer Book, published by La Leche League International, no evidence exists that the nursing mother's use of hair-care products, such as hair dyes and permanents, has any effect on her breastfeeding baby. When a mother uses hair-care products, some of the chemicals will be absorbed through her skin. If her scalp is healthy and intact, less will be absorbed than if the skin on her scalp is scratched or abraded.

There is no evidence that the nursing mother’s use of tanning beds has any effect on her breastfeeding baby.
