This might be tricky for obvious reasons - I have friends transiting through HK airport very soon, from UK, en route to Australia. They will only be in the airport for a few hours and I'd really love to see them!
Appreciate that in transit they would remain Airside but I was just wondering if anyone knew of anyway (short of me buying a ticket for a flight around the same time!) that we might be able to meet up?

we were in the same situation in January, friends stopping here for a few hours on way from UK to Aust. They went through immigration customs etc at airport met us in the arrivals area, we had coffee upstairs and then they went through immigration customs etc and on to the plane.

They can enter HK with their British passports and then you can meet.

and you aren't required to pay airport tax if you return back through Immigration within 24 hours.
