Dehumidifiers are making me hot!

I am new to HK and bought a couple of dehumidifiers second hand. I am now using them all day but they blow out hot air and make the room even more stuffy than normal. I'm not sure if mine are broken or is that what they should do? Do I have to suffer hot stuffy rooms for the sake of keeping my clothes mould free, or should I go and buy a new dehumidifier from a reputable shop? What do you think?

that's how a dehumidifier works!

A dehumidifier removes moisture from the air. The usual technique used to remove the moisture is to condense the moisture onto a cold surface.

A dehumidifier is simply an air conditioner that has both its hot and cold coils in the same box. A fan draws the room's air over the cold coil of the air conditioner to condense the moisture (which normally drips into a bucket). The dry air then passes through the hot coil to heat it back up to its original temperature. That's all there is to it!

Search previous threads on dehumidifiers. This is the time to realise that aircon for a few minutes can do much more than a dehumidifier can in hours!
