Update on "Rent Tribunal"

I posted the above a few weeks ago. Briefly my problem was the landlord holding bond plus one months rent after they had moved back into the flat I had vacated 6 weeks prior. Reason was for payment of fridge and airconditioner that they considered were not working to their liking. I was about to take advice given on this site (small claims) however the husband admitted that there was nothing wrong with the appliances and "secretly" paid me under the condition I did not let his wife know he had done so. Wow! how grateful I was that I got my money BUT how dishonest, cunning and dispicable the wife (landlord) who I always dealt with, was. My present landlord will now pay the price. I have been told by my Chinese colleagues NEVER to pay the last two months rent before leaving because of the difficulty of getting your bond back. Now what does that tell you!?!

However, what if if you are receiving a housing allowance? If you don't have receipts for rent paid (for last two months) to show to your employer's accountants, wouldn't your allowance be considered wages and then get taxed?
