Which products work best? My heavily-layered shoulder length hair is all over the place as I had a "setting perm" some 6months ago.. Used to like Kiehl's silk groom something but find it a bit heavy..... please help! I can't let my hair down anymore! (as I'm clueless with blow-drying and I have A LOT of hair)

Hi, i think it depends alot on weather you want to have your hair smooth or with curls. If you want it smooth then you will need to blowdry and one of the best smoothing products I have found recently is the Fudge 'Erect'. It smooths and reduces frizz without being heavy but needs to be used with a blowdryer. If you want to wear your hair with curls then try the Fudge 'Screwed' which will break up the curls and help stop it from getting frizzy. You can then finish up the process with the Fudge 'De-Frizz' just to keep it under control but again be carefull not to use too much product in one section. Hope that helps.

Not sure if this is going to help u, but I find that using leave-in conditioner instead of the regular hair conditioner works really well for dry frizzy hair =) just cover ur whole head with it and leave it in for a few minutes before washing off. After a few washes u should feel that ur hair isn't so dry anymore and should be easier to tame =) I normally use Pantene and it works well for me, not sure about other brands though coz I've never tried them.

Thank you for your suggestions D-Man, Kaat and Di! I will try them out. Any of you tried a leave-in conditioner though? the ones you don't wash out?

Kaat - You recommend Pantene - but I went to look for this conditioner and have had trouble finding it ... what is the full product name and even a location of where you have purchased it.

I bought it at Wellcome (in fact I think it's exclusive to Wellcome). ummm I don't have the name with me now but I'll post again when I get home! It comes in a little round tub. Sorry about the trouble, M&M!

Bought Pantene in Watsons along Queen's Road in Central (the new store).
The one I got was Pantene Pro-V 3times amino pro-V complex (color therapy anti-breakage hair mask) that comes in a tube. First time I tried it, looooved the result after blow-drying

Got it! It's called Pantene Pro-V Calming Masque. Oops my mistake, it's not a leave-in conditioner after all. ahaha, serves its purpose nonetheless.

Hi Kimmy
I have naturally curly, shoulder length, thick hair and I know what you mean when you say it is hard to handle.
I actually use a product that can't be bought in HK but if you go to 'The Professional Hair Product shop' on Wellington Street (half way up, on the corner next to steps), they sell very similar products that help comnbat frizzy hair. After shampooing, I usually use a mousse specifically for curly/frizzy hair and then followed by a hairspray for the same purpose. I use a diffuser and scrunch dry my hair.
From experience, Pantene products have always been a disaster for me but I suppose everyone's hair is different and when they first came out in the UK, my hairdresser told me it was just a glorified version of fairy liquid! Not sure how much truth there is but it can't be that bad if people are using them, but they never worked for my heavy hair.

Thanks for that happychick, I'going to Wellington Street without delay! I had been thinking about mousse as well as I think it could add more "moist".. Any particular brand you'd recommend?

Kimmy, I cant remember the exact brand that is sold at the shop but they have different products called 'frizz ease' or something like that. The products I use are from the UK and these frizz ease products are the nearest I have seen being sold at this shop in HK. You will need to have a good look and maybe try to see what is suited to you. Also, just to warn you that the products are not cheap :(
Just a tip about blow drying your hair: I usually scrunch dry my hair after putting on mousse and with damp hair and keep you hairdryer in one place at a time ie. don't sway it from side to side as this causes your hair to become too flyaway.

I just had a digital perm-hair looks great but a lil on a dry/slightly hard side. Any recommendations for masques etc to soften hair without losing the curls?

This mousse has totally let me down, my hair (especially the layered parts in the front) is still very dry.. A friend told me hairgel could help, so off to the stores again..
