It is very easy to get to the airport from the Gold Coast. There is a shuttle bus that goes from Phase 1 and Phase 2 Gold Coast apartments very frequently. Lots of Cathay staff live in this area. Can not remember the cost off hand, but not expensive. Gold Coast a far better place to live than Discovery Bay.

Agree re shuttles from Gold Coast apartments to Airport. Reaonable and frequent. The 962 to central is a pain. Likely that you will have to stand for the full 40 minute journey if you are travelling at peak times. Better sized apartments for the price though. We were at the Hillgrove which was nice.

U can use the Airport bus even if you don't live there, how cool is that!

The appartments are quite nice. The properties are only for rent now, which is a pity. Although you might be able to buy privately as some of the earlier phases were sold off in the begining. I live 10 minutes drive from the Gold Coast, and usually go there at least once a week for a meal in the terrific outdoor Restaurant areas. Chilli & Spice, Med Stars, etc. The Weekend "Montmartre" Gift stalls makes a great setting too. Pity McDonalds got a prime spot on the frontage though. Oh well, can't have everything I guess.

Go take a look over the weekend and see for yourself.

I am also interested in this area, what is it like if you have 3 dogs. Are there any apartments / houses with gardens, does'nt matter how big and how much are they?

Interested to know why it is better than discovery bay as we were looking at that initially.

When coming to dogs, Gold Coast sucks... Do not go there in that case.

I would recommend to you Saikung or even Clearwater Bay, this is the best for dogs, etc....

We were at the Hillgrove complex in a split level apartment - ground floor and 1st floor (only 5 story high building), about 1800 sq ft and was around 25K a month (probably more now - we have been in midlevels a year). All ground floor ones in the Crescent part of the complex have a small garden too which would be good for the dogs. The Hillgrove was a great complex - 2 swimming pools and gym plus the ones at the end (the Crescent) have a view out to the hills on one side and green/sea view on the other. It was the commute into town that was the problem for us and hence the reluctant move to midlevels.

We didn't have a dog so not sure what it is like around there for dogs generally but friends have a house nearby and have a german shepard and it seems fine for them

The Hillgrove is on 9 Tsing Fat Lane, Siu Lam - about 1km before the Gold Coast when you are on the 962 bus. It is fairly new (think we were the first tenants in 2003). There is a new building on the corner - think it was called the Agean

The complex is partly smaller apartments in high rise blocks and then at the end the Crescent which is only 5 storeys high and shaped (surprisingly enough) in a half circle/crescent shape. Was a great pad - three big bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and an ensuite.
