idiot-proof digital camera?

Tech dinosaur needs to buy a basic, point-and-shoot digital camera urgently, but doesn't even understand the jargon in previous threads on digicams (what are megapixels? what's SLR?)!! Never could get interested in gadgets and now paying the price in panic! Could any kind, tech-savvy soul please advise on what type/brand of idiot-proof digicam I should get? It's just for taking pix of landscapes, transferring them into a computer and printing them out in a report...many thanks...

Megapixels = Millions of pixels (PIcture ELements)

SLR = Single Lense Reflex The main lense acts as a veiwfinder, you can frame pictures more accuratly. In the digital world SLRs tend to be higher quality and produce better pictures, but the are more complex and require extra equipment.
