We have repeatedly asked the management office to enforce the bylaws as set out in our buiding. The contractor continues to hammer away with the door open at all times of the day and night.
I see from other discussions that we should just move.No way!
I am determined to see this through and would be glad for any further advice and/or help.

I think the law is that there is to be no drilling etc after 7 pm. If they still do it, call the police. I've done it before and it generally works.

Not fun is it?...I had to endure the same (worse, because it included alot more than hammering) for over a year in our bldg.
By law they can work from 8pm-7pm, after that call the police.
You can drive yourself crazy following up with your bldg management and get absolutely no where... in the end it's just not worth it.
The second one renovation is finished, it's not long before another starts. It never ends...
Move to a house, or you just have to get used to it I'm afraid.

In a domestic premises the noise must stop between 11pm and 7am and not at all on general holidays. You can check out the ordinance on BLIS.
Cap 400, Sec 4; also see Sec 5 for other noise.
You can also print out a copy of the Section in Chinese to pass to the management copy - if there is a communication problem.
Two solutions: Move or call the police - although don't expect that to help much.
