ORIGINAL POST

my baby is 6 months and this is the first time I am taking a trip to Macau. Could someone please tell me what I would need to carry for my baby since this is my first time. I am majorly nervous two days to go and I don't have the faintest idea of what to do.

Hi I'm about to embark on a trip to so know how your feeling. Just start to write a list of all the the things you use daily for bubs and then make sure you pack them cloths, bibs, nappies, wipes etc. If your staying in a hotel ask if they will provide a cot and if they know anywhere you could hire a pram if you don't really want to bother with your own. If you are breast feeding it will be easier otherwise you need to think about heating up bottles and possibly sterisling, bottle warmers etc. Are you expressing?

If you need to sterilise bottles, are you staying in a serviced apartment or regular hotel? This will dictate what you need to take in that regards. I used to either just boil the bottles if a serviced appt, if hotel I would take my benchtop steriliser and just plug in somewhere, usually the bathroom. If you use a microwave steriliser, check if they have microwave first.

Other than that, it is easy. Take plenty of nappies (you will also be able to buy them there).

Don't take clothes the baby doesn't normally wear, just take your favourites and extras for spills, etc.

Like above poster said, make a note of what you use every day, make a list and pack those.

Plenty of tissues and wet wipes.

For food, what does baby eat? Mine used to occassionally eat the pre-made foods like heinz, so they are great for trips, as you don't need to worry about organising anything. Just take enough for each meal, you may not use all. At 6 mths baby can probably cope with eating them a bit cold if need be. For heating bottles and food while out, just ask the restaurant for a jug of boiling water.

Don't worry, what they do on a trip is exactly what they do at home, you just need to make yourself a list so you can prepare as much as you can.

If you forget anything, don't worry, you can buy it there.

How long are you going for?

Day trip, overnight, long weekend?

To be safe, I would bring as many bottles as you have. Also, bring his/her favorite toys. Weather is the same as Hong Kong so it will be hot. Still, you should have a blanket(s) and your baby's usual sleeping attire.

There are Watsons around town, so you can pick up any supplies if necessary.

No need to worry. Macau is an easy trip.

Don't forget baby's passport! Both me and my husband are permanent residents so only need our ID cards, and we forgot our baby's passport once...

Take baby's birth certificate if born in HK (they like the original but if you don't want to take this then a copy will do, just might mean a slight delay). It helps them decide what stamp to put in their passport upon return to HK.

Don't be afraid to be cheeky at your hotel. If you need a microwave or fridge and your room doesn't have one, ask the staff to help. They must have them in the kitchens. I've done this several times in hotels across Asia and have never had any problems. Hope the hotels in Macau are similarly helpful!
