Reflux and Indigestion

Our son was diagnosed as having reflux when he was barely two weeks old. We had two visits to Dr. Thondup, and tried both Mylanta and Zantac. Zantac worked (after a few days of trial and at an increased dosage) and Mylanta didn't. He continued to take Zantac till he was three months old, after which he did well without the medication. We mixed Zantac with my breastmilk and bottle-fed him because he wouldn't take it otherwise. It was a real hassle as we had to give it to him twice (or was it three times?) a day, so there was quite a bit of pumping involved.

If the baby is very 'sucky' and willing to use a pacifier, why not? Our son didn't want the pacifier at all, so I just let him suckle on me whenever he needed the comfort. Thankfully after a few months he outgrew his reflux and became much more independent.
