Can anyone tell me if these are safe to use on at young babies sheets at night? We are all being biten badly at the moment by mozzies and midges so we are constantly applying repellant and Im applying natural repellant on my 3 year old. My concern is when my expectant bub arrives in May. What do people use for newborns and young babies? I also have one of those 'sound control' mosquitoe things, but Im not quite sure how affect it really is. Any suggestions. Many thanks

I can't help you with your original question, but where are your mosquito's coming from? If you keep your windows open, maybe you want to think of fitting screens. We had a bad mosquito problem when my daughter was a newborn and we couldn't figure out where the blasted things were coming from. Kept looking for standing water in the plants (none), kept the covers down on the toilets, finally figured out that they were breeding in the carafe of drinking water I was keeping in the bathroom. Totally disgusting--but once that was gotten rid of, we no longer had a mosquito problem in our flat.
If you go to places like Bali, they cover cribs with full mosquito netting. That's a chemical free way to address the problem, but you have to remember that it's warmer for baby inside the netting.
I think most bug sprays say they shouldn't be used on children under 6 mo. I used Mike Mozzies when our daughter was younger than that, but the stuff seems pretty useless to me, it didn't prevent bites on either of us.

We live close to the water in DB and it seems that the midges are worse than the mosquitoes at the moment. I spoke to the chemist today and he says Im doing all that I can. I did think of the mozzie netting at night for the baby but most health vistors advise not to use them. I think I will just keep burning the citronella candles and keep the mozzie buzzer pluged in and see how we go. Im just hoping the new baby doesnt have an allergy to the bites like my daughter and I, we will see. Many thanks for your advice my thoughts

I get really bad reactions to mosquito bites too, but I find that if I put the air conditioning on at home then the mozzies tend to disappear. Kimmi, perhaps as the weather continues to warm up and you start using your air con you guys won't be affected as much.
