Hi everyone. I'm looking for some courses for the kids, mainly arts & crafts and some sports activities (or any other suggestions you have for kids with way too much time on their hands!) the kids are 2 years, 4 years and 7 years old. Does anyone have any suggestions? OR any ones that I should stay away from?
I saw some advertisements for Arts plus and the Art School at the HK Arts Centre, but don't know anyone who has tried them before. I prefer to get some suggestions first instead of just going on advertising.

Hi Ray. We are based in Discovery Bay and there are a couple of art schools her. They charge about $150 for about one to one and a half hrs .So over a month, once class a week, that is $600. I trialed both schools and really discovered that I could do so much at home with my small one (three) and $600 buys some awesome art materials. Just a thought...... Heaps of great ideas from other mums (and dads!) and the internet is invaluable. So unless you are combining art with socialising for the children, keep it at home! A bit messy but soooo much fun. Also, these centers have one or two teachers max for about ten kids so the one on one aspect doesnt really come into it.

Kids Gallery looks interesting and Multisport offer some great physical activities, perhaps a couple of good places to start.

My son did Kids' Gallery (Kowloon Tong) for 5 years before we re-located and he loved it. The ESF sports program is quite good as well.

I am not sure you can register for other schools programs but you can do activities run by the private organisations that take place at some of the schools (eg. Multisport & the ESF sports for All). I have heard good things about the rugby at Stanley Fort which is very reasonable $. (http://www.stanleyfort.com/Pages/TheClub.htm) Even though your 2 year old would be too young, I get the impression it is very family based and there will be lots of little siblings running around. You could also try the Auskick football through the Australian society (http://www.ozhongkong.com/) and I understand that over the summer months there is Sunday swimming at the Asutralian school for a very reasonable fee.
Sorry if this is a bit vague, we haven't been here that long ourselves.

The YWCA has some great classes for kids and they usually don't cost too much.Your children can often take classes through clubs like the Cricket Club without being a member, but in some cases, you need a friend to be a member, but not for all clubs. good luck

Agree with notmeok. YWCA has great classes. Our 4-yr old daughter attends soccer classes there. Great program! Highly recommended. My daughter always looks forward to it every week. I think there is a YWCA link on the right of this website.
