Landord's brother be the one to sign the "Form 6"

I just signed the "Form 6" ( This is the temporary statment to proof that I put deposit and the landord agree to rent the place to me)to rent a place 2 days ago.

However, today, I found out that the guy who signed the contract with me is not the landlord, but his younger brother...I can't bother to wait for the jerk agent to follow up the case and prepare documents to show me who is the real owner of the flat.

What I want to know is can I just ignore that "Form 6" which we signed and move on looking for another flat? As I really urgently need to move within this 2 weeks.

Of course, I will chase back the deposit I gave to the landlord's little brother later.

Anyone please give me advise and would be much appreciated.

Thanks!!

FWIW, I agree with Oldhand, think you need to get your deposit back before you assume you aren't bound by the lease you already signed. There could be several different theories law under which the landlord could be bound by his brother's signing even if there weren't a specific letter authorizing it (express or apparent authority, estoppel). If this were so, the contract would be good and you would be the one in breach if you fail to honor it.

Thank you all of you!

Finally, I mean after a long process, the little brother showed me the authorisation letter. Not sure why he didn't do it at the very beginning...strange!!
