Does anyone know where to find a snuggle bed in HK? Bumps to Babes don't have them, and neither do Mothercare.
Thanks

Maybe worth trying this shop - the main store is in Tsuen Wan, but they have others on the Island and in Kln:

Hi. Is that the type that you would buy in Australia? Small cot insert filled with tea tree shavings I believe?

Yes I am also curious, what is a snuggle bed???

It's like a small bed you put in your bed, makes it "safer" to sleep with the baby. The brand name is "Snuggle nest".

Hope that link works. Oops....ti-tree, not tea tree!

Georgie10, yes, that's the one. I think there are some different brands, but that's the most common one in Aus. It's also more cosy for newborns if you're putting your baby straight into a big cot.
(You can also get snuggle beds/nests for pets which are not the same thing!)

swmbo, you are welcome to mine. It is unused. My mother in law gave it to me and my small one had a lovely little moses basket so we didnt use it. I will leave my number for you on your pm and we can meet somewhere (we are in Discovery Bay). Glad it can finally go to a good home!

Someone is selling them on the Hong Kong yahoo auction site for about HK$160 I think. Unfortunately the site is mainly in Chinese, but you may be able to tell by the pic.

Thanks to everyone for your responses.
I haven't responded for a while as I wrote to the SIDS foundation in Aus to find out what they say about snuggle beds (couldn't find anything on line). They recommend against soft fibre mattresses of any kind, including ti-tree mattresses. So they do not recommend the snuggle bed (contrary to much retail advertising). They did say that if you do use a soft mattress then make sure the baby is out by the time they start rolling over.
The Eugene Group doesn't have snuggle beds but it does have some roll protectors (can't remember what they're called) - basically a round firm cushion on either side of the baby with just a flat piece of material underneath. Stops baby rolling over during the night. So am considering one of these instead as the real purpose is for my husband's peace of mind while co-sleeping (which also is not recommended by the SIDS foundation).
Thanks again for all your help - much appreciated.

Hi Mrs Miggins,
here's a link to an old post with some further information both for and against co-sleeping

Mrs Miggins,
SIDS Australia recommends AGAINST co-sleeping. Hazards that increase SIDS with co-sleeping are obesity, drugs, smoking, tiredness and waterbed, but even without these hazards they recommend NOT co-sleeping.
However, not all doctors agree with this (Dr Sears in particular comes to mind).
We partly co-slept with our first baby and plan to do so again. With the first it was a survival strategy as he hated being alone, and to be honest I loved it and miss it now.
