Work Advice needed

I have just started working for a small company and somehow I am not happy with my work. Firstly they are not paying me enough. Secondly the job does not match my qualifications (I am over qualified). At the end of the day I don't feel that I have acheived much work wise. My boss (who owns the company)loves to micro manage and is driving me insane. As a result instead of doing concrete work I am trouble shooting all day. He tells me he wants this done now and so I end up doing things according to his priority list, which is no issue but then he suddenly asks me for something which I was initially supposed to do but couldn't bcos I was doing what he wanted me to do. When I tell him that , he tells me that I don't have time mamagement skills. On top of it today he called me a liar.He speaks to me as if I am a child, he makes me repeat everything, which is humilating. There are numerous other issues , once I took the blame for some fault of his just to stop an argument and ended up apologising. My work hours are officially 9 to 6 but I end up working 8 to 8 daily, occassionally is no issue. Basically I am not happy.

So should I quit?. My problem is that I have worked here for only a month and before that was on a break from working for 3 yrs (was looking bringing up my kids). Should I wait to get a job first and then quit? My boss keeps telling me he has big plans for me..but I don't know if they will happen or are just a ploy. I know if I stay here, I may eventually get to do what I wanted to do, but I don't know if I could last the daily unhappiness dose. Any kind of advice is welcome

if you're ready to throw in the towel, then i suggest you speak to your boss about the situation, expectations about the job (his and yours). maybe you two can work out a compromise. Weigh all the pros and cons before deciding anything.

also determine your boundaries. and determine what is more important to you work experience, money, doing something, work satisfaction?

good luck.

Hate to say this RA .. but .. this is standard operating procedure for HK trained managers. One way or another you will be leaving. And worse, the boss will make you scape-goat for anything he can. It would be best for you to just tell him this up front, and in front of as many other staff members as possible. But, prepare your resume again first.
