Hey to those who replied before. sorry but for some reason my posts were never going up!
he's bitten me a few times but has never puntured the skin.
he has improved somewhat but can still 'turn' very easily without warning. Ive been doing a lot of research and taken a lot of advice but so much of it is conflicting that i think a trainer who could come in and assess the needs first hand may be a better option? ( a lot to invest in a foster dog accordin gto my friends but he'll never find a home and nor will he be happy in mine until we learn to live together harmoniously)
i think someone mentioned a trainer? are they any good? and how much do trainers cost? am thinking about introducing one to the dog once he trusts me.
cos my posts never seem to go up nless i create a new thread can u pls e-mail me : gemima23@yahoo.com
thankyou for all your previous advice!!!

One thing a trainer could help you with is to actually determine if his biting is fear biting or rather something else. All kindness and best wishes to the dog, but one thing to remember is that he absolutely must know that you are the top dog, or you will have a biting problem that never gets better as he uses it to keep you in your place. The fact that he turns without warning is problematic. Fear biters usually give you some warning, and you can learn to read their signs of discomfort before their fear drives them to lash out. But some dogs (like some people) just have bad temperaments. (You never did reply about what kind of dog breed this is, some breeds are particularly prone to aggression and short tempers, particularly if the line came from animals bred by people who were eager to produce aggressive puppies.) There are probably other dogs, wonderful dogs, being euthanized because they don't have homes to go to, while this one for whatever reason may always be a challenge. Someone gave you a real lemon, you said it yourself he'll never be able to find a home. I think you need to send this one back and let the person who pawned him off on you take the responsibility for taking this dog into their own home. Then save a life -- adopt a nice, adoptable dog. IMO, the purpose of having a pet is to give you joy, and if he doesn't then don't waste any more of your time. If you really feel you can rehab him (and you should know by now) then go for it.
