There is also the Japanese International School (English section) in Tai Po and many children at the school come from CWB and Sai Kung. I think that Hon Lok Yuen International also have children from your area.

Not sure if it gives you any priority - just know ESF now 'handles' the running of it. Call them up and talk to them. http://www.esf.edu.hk/schools/abacus.html
Renaissance is a Private Independent School (PIS) will be opening in September - also under the umbrella of ESF.. the school is currently Phoenix Int'l School (managed by ESF) which used to be the Canadian Overseas International School until it fell in a heap a few years ago. The population of the current school will quadruple on opening in September.

Just wondering is the CWB ESF school good? B/c I did some research and many books/magazines says that for pre-school 3 yrs - 5 yrs are in one class together. And, all the teachers in the school have NO certification in teaching (HK standards). I hesitated in even applying for the kindegarten. Would LOVE to find out more about it, esp from someone who has a child going there. Thanks!

You need to ask the school these questions to get real answers. I wouldn't think the teachers do not have any teaching quals because it is illegal for them to teach in a Kindergarten without teaching qualifications in HK. Some of the assistants may not have quals - but then they do not require them.

Clearwater Bay school doesn't take children until they are 5. Abacus is the ESF kindy. About 3 years ago they did combine the K1's and K2's but it only lasted a year, they are back now in separate classes. My daughter goes there and absolutely loves it, as do most of the children. Going to Abacus doesn't give you automatic rights to go to Clearwater Bay, but it certainly gives you a much better chance. The principles name is Heather and I'm sure she would be happy to answer your questions or show you round the school.
