Hi, I have a 6 months old baby. A couple of weeks back I had started nestle milk cereal and nestle rice cereal. Also I have been giving my baby yellow(moong) lentil(pulses) water. Yesterday for the first time I added carrot along with lentil and rice in the afternoon.
Since we are basically vegetarians please give me all the advise you can about the food that I should be giving. I am planning to give her eggs anyway. Since she will need a lot of protein. Please help! --- first time mom

Aquagul..I give my 6 month daughter khichdi..rice with lentils & veggies (carrot, potatoes, cauliflower, peas, lauki) & she loves it...
maybe u could try ripe bananas..apple stew..though my daughter hates fruits... best of luck

expat123... soak equal quantities of rice & lentil (pref yellow moong) for some time... finely chop carrot, potato, cauliflower, broccoli, peas, gaurd etc (smalll quantities) & pressure cook with enough water (to ensure thick consistency) & minimal salt... to enable easy swallowing i usually blend the khichdi.. u may want to add a little bit of butter...
khichdi is very nutritious as it contains lots of veggies..

It is controversial whether a vegetarian diet is healthy for a growing baby. It is possible to develop serious vitamin, mineral and fatty acid deficiencies as the requirements for these nutrients is higher in inbabies and children than in adults. A strict vegan diet (without animal or dairy products) is not safe for children under two. Beans and lentils are rich in both protein and iron. It would be good to discuss this with your paediatrician. If you use canned beans make sure you rinse them to remove the excess salt. It is not advisable to give a baby egg whites until they are 12 months old.
