Hi,

Having always had a top loader, and separate dryer, I would like to ask if anyone can recommend or not recommend a brand of 2 in 1 washer dryer?

Your war stories and compliments welcome!

Thank you.

Not sure why this is in Moms and Dads, but mayber you have babies/children and do a lot of laundry?

2 in 1 save space, but personally I don't care for them for two reasons:

1. if you have a lot of laundy, you can't have one load in washer and one load in dryer at same time

2. the washer tends to work great, but the dryer tends to be a bit slow (or you need to take some clothes out for it to work more efficiently) in my experience.

BUT, if you mostly hang dry, and use the dryer rarely, then they are good as they are great space savers and better than not having a dryer at all!

There are a few threads on this in the Practical section. Look up "washer" and then pick out the relevant ones.

This is what I wrote in one of them....

An independent consumer magazine did tests on washer/dryers early in 2005 (in Aus). Their comments were that most worked well as washers but only the Miele (Honeycomb WT945S) and LG (INtellowasher WD-1480RD) worked well as dryers. The Miele is alot more expensive than LG. The LG however had the longest cycle of all tested machines. (Naturally they would only have tested brands/models available in Aus so there could be others that are ok available here.)
