This is my first time to have a flight transfer via hongkong. I need to spend 2 hrs in HK before I transfer to another plane bound for my place of destination. Do I need to take my luggage from the original plane which took me to HK, or will they be the one to transfer my luggage to my next plane? This may sound absurd but I really don't know how to go about it.

Wait, are you flying the same airline (presumably Cathay Pacific) for your connection? If so, no problems. If not, you might have to re-check your luggage.

In addition to what raincatcher said, for same flight connections, upon checking in, tell them to "check through" your bags.

Also, if you are starting your journey from a remote airport (plenty of these in Asia), they may not be able to do this.
