I do not have any employment lined up before I come to Hong Kong, and so it will be hard for me.
My first priority will be to find a rental and then look for work. Is finding work a difficult chore without having anything lined up. I am in Information Technology, Maintenance work, and TESOL in English, do not speak Chinese. I am concerned about finding employment before my finances dry up. What has been the experience of most. Thankyou, Ric

Ric - As far as I am aware, you cannot obtain any employment, even in McDonalds, without having a valid work visa. You cannot obtain this, unless you have a company willing to sponsor your work visa. This is usually done under the assumption that the company has to bring in skills that are not readily available within the local market.

it depends.. if you are a white western.. maybe you can find a job as an English teacher.
Good luck

An entry visa for work takes around 4 to 6 weeks to process. Remember, an offer of work does not always guaranteed a work visa.
Also note from the Immigration Dept's website:
"As a general rule, any person other than those having the right of abode or right to land in Hong Kong, must obtain a visa before coming to Hong Kong for the purpose of education, taking up employment, training, investment or residence."
