Well I got 19/20 - the one question I got wrong had to do with the USA that I didn't know.
The article is interesting, however it suggests that schools have to help in the education of the students- I do believe that parents have a huge role to play in this as well. When news occurs and current events happen - getting out an atlas and looking up the location of where it happened are all teaching moments. I did not learn most of my geography from school - my parents were very careful to make sure I understood where I lived in the world, I read newspapers, watched the news, read books, discussed things around the dinner table and then when I was (much) older - I travelled to see for myself.
It is scary that many young Americans do not have basic knowledge about the world they live in, but everyone in the American population has a responsibility to learn and to teach it - not just the schools.

Hhmmm. Not just the young generation, I am afraid. I remember watching West Wing (TV series) which showed that the Indonesians do not have one language shared by many tribes so that the White house had to hire two interpreter! Which is not true. They have Bahasa Indonesia! I know it is just a hollywood version, but it made me wonder.......
Plus, President Bush on TV refered the SOUTH ASIA earthquake as the SOUTH EAST ASIA earthquake. No wonder why the donation toward the South Asia earthquake victims were very low relative to the tsunami's. Maybe, many thought that they are the same event - and they had donated already.
