I have a court date for the Small Claims Tribunal to get a refund on goods. Was trying to avoid taking a whole morning off work and know a representative can attend in one's absence. Anyone know if a Duty Solicitor can just do this or know anyone who specialises in attending these 'small and quick' cases for a small fee for those unable to attend.

Please note that you can appoint a representative to attend the Tribunal for the first hearing and the mention for trial, but you cannot appoint any counsel or solicitor to represent you in the Small Claims Tribunal. It is a rule of the Tribunal that no legal representation is permitted.
At the hearing, the representative has to produce a letter of authorisation duly signed by you. Please also note that the Tribunal may or may not grant a permission for you to appoint a representative.

Just had my Small Claims Tribunal hearing and would urge everyone with a problem for returning goods in HK to take the problem there. Its eazze-peezy and the shop owners sh*t themselves and cant be nice enough, apologizing etc etc. Why do they waste their time and at the end of the day feel all embarrassed over loss of face. Don't be scared of the "no returns policy", go to the Tribunal and serve your notice on them and they wont be long about returning your money. It takes about 2 hrs and your money is returned. I'm really pleased I've done it and wont hesitate the next time.

The goods were not defective or did I change my mind. The information I was given about their use was incorrect. I brought them back and upgraded on their advice, which didnt work either. Basically its the same story here in HK where they tell you anything to get you to buy but when its not what they say, they have this "no refund policy" which is a load of crap! Take them to the Small Claims and they wont be long about putting their hand in the till and refunding.
