Searching for baby bag

ORIGINAL POST

My brother is a first-time dad, and I promised to get him a spiffy baby bag to hold bottles, formula, nappies, etc.

Since he will be the one carrying the bag most times, he prefers something neutral (no florals, no pastels.. maybe a backpack perhaps?). I don't have kids of my own so I'm clueless..

Anyone know where I can get this here? Budget is an issue, so nothing in the thousand $$ range..

As you don't have kiddies, you may not be aware that there's a "Moms & Dads" channel on this site - you can find it in the top dropdown menu on the left of this page. You may get more help there.

Thanks Burgundy and TC--

will head out there tomorrow. I actually went inside a B to B shop in Horizon Plaza but wasn't really looking for a specific thing then, so the recall was really poor..

Just take a really good look at teh Allerhand bags because there was a thread a while back with plenty of disatisfied users. The zips are not so strong and if the bag gets a bit full (which easily can happen) they tend to slip open. I lost my camera out of one for this reaon. They may have redesigned the zip, but it is hard to check in store. They also have lots of compartments and this is a bit troublesome getting things "lost in the depths". I bought one initially because they look really nice but wouldn't do it again.

I have noticed that Esprit have a really nice range at ToysRUs at the moment and they are really gender neutral and practical.

Just my experience - I tried to look for the thread but can't find it.

Thanks LAH.

After seeing the pics in the Allerhand website, I thought these were the exact styles I had in mind. I appreciate your feedback. Will go check out the Esprit line at Toys R Us too.

Check out the Kate Spade stores, there is a Jack Spade range for guys and their daddy diaper back is solid and is what I use. Alternatively ebay if you can't find it in HK. Price should be ~$8-900. Good luck!

Went to Toys R Us in Causeway Bay and Ocean Terminal and they don't have stocks of the Esprit baby bags. Actually, they have no baby bags at all...

Mothercare carries a few styles and limited colors of Allerhand, but after reading the posts about it, I would like to find other options.

Also, I need recommendations for a baby carrier..Any advantages of a 4-way over a 3 or even a 2-way? What brand is most useful and safe?Until what age will a baby carrier be used? Thanks, I'm really clueless about these things.

I have the Babyjorn baby/diaper bag, love it, it's very nice. I haven't seen it in HK though, you might find it online. I also use the Babybjorn carrier, I think it's the best on the market. I give one to every single friend who has a baby as a baby gift, and they all say, it's THE gift they use the most often.

The absolute best carrier is the Baby Bjorn SPORT. This one provides lumbar support so it doesn't hurt your back. As for diaper bags, can you get anything from this website: http://www.bellablumaternity.com/index.php?cPath=90_62&osCsid=a3f31113a966e443d1fc63ce45a7dc5a

The Skip Hop is a huge hit in the States, and it has a handle which is changeable for when you hang it on the stroller or for when you carry it. Good luck!
