I've got a new suede sofa and my cat starts scratching already. She's got a post. Anyone knows if those spray works?

A friend of mine had a cat that used to do stuff like scratch the sofa, climb on the dinner-table during meal-time, get into things it wasn't supposed to.
They "fixed" it's behavior with a simple toy water-gun. Everytime they caught the cat being bad they would get the toy water gun and "squirt" the cat with a bit of water, and it would make the cat stop instantly. It appeared to be harmless enough to the cat, and it sooned fixed the problem as after a while the cat "learned" that it would get squirted with the water for doing "bad" things, so soon enough it no longer did those things.
Anyways, not sure if it'll work for your cat, but it's worth a shot I guess if you don't mind squirting your cat with a little bit of water when it tries to claw-up your expensive sofa.
You could also try rubbing the scratching-post with some cat-nip to more attract its attention there as well.

hi ,
Thanks for your advice. I have bought a spray yesterday which I sprayed last night before I went to bed. so I didn't know if it will work yet. I also bought a water gun and squirted her ONCE last night. and she seems not coming to the sofa/ scratchng the sofa since.
Hopefully it will work:!!
