The overwhelming majority of locals just attach a 6ftx3ft piece of cheap strong wood to three of the walls in the maids room, and then put a wafer thin (3") mattress on top of it. Back home with her family, the maid will probably sleep on a wafer thin mattress directly on the floor, so it's not being horrible to her.
If you want to be super nice and buy her a "proper" bed, you can find cheap ones in any low rent district. Where are you?

What a shocking thread?????????? I can't believe some of the expats in this town. Burgandy your comments are offensive and rude.
You think its ok to put a miad on some cheap nasty bed and then you probably work her from 5am to 11pm, you people make me sick and if you don't have enough space you put cases in her room as well!!!!
In England these kind of living conditions would be up against the Racismn Act and the Human Rights Act. People like you Burgandy just add to it by making it acceptable.

There's nothing wrong with trying to get cheap or used beds, 2 of my kids sleep on 2nd hand beds. I reckon the Tromso metal high bed from Ikea is pretty good, its not huge, and because its high it free's up all the floor space underneath, around $1k. Takad furniture store also do really nice wooden high beds with desks and cupboards underneath for about $3k.

Burgandy suggested you buy a 'wafer thin Mattress' or if you wanted to be 'super nice' you could buy her a proper mattress and you guys don't think that is racist! Imagine you were domestic help and people were making decisions like that for you.
I myself have worked ina private home and my employers at the time needed to buy furniture for my room so they said lets go to Ikea together and choose some items to your taste. Don't even get me started on the fact that some maids rooms have toilets in there as though it is a prison cell.
Have you seriously all becoming such expats that you don't even realise that you are being racist???

Hey the expact' do you remenber that in our own countries people are fighting against racism?
I will not have a maid, but someone who will take care of my children and of my house. So it is a human being not my dog!!!
She can have a normal bad (the same as you).
I will arrive in august, and my nurse will have all the confort in her room. What hapen in her country is not my fault, but I won't accept to do the same.
