eczema and Graeme Stuart-Bradshaw?

Mummybee - I can't comment on Graeme because I don't know him nor have I heard of him. BUT, I would think a dermatologist could be of great help; people with eczema usually seek them out...since it's a skin issue.

Question, is your baby teething and drooling alot? The areas you mentioned seemed to be ones that would likely get wet with drool and possibly food (breastmilk or whatever it is your feeding); is that the case?

You should try to see Dr Eunice Wong in Lane Crawford house. she's a pedetrician and deals a lot with skin pbs.

Did go to Graeme a few years ago but it didn't help. I suppose it depends on the cause. My eczema is caused by allergies.

Mummybee, sorry to hear your baby's skin condition hasn't improved. But like RiceT said, those areas, (like my baby) also gets red, and irritated when he's drooling alot (24 hours right now).... and after we give him a feeding, when the milk touches/leaks down to his neck especially, he will have irritations. So, after each feeding, I make sure we clean his chin, neck, and cheeks, or anywhere else the milk touched with a soft damp cloth.

This seemed to have prevented the rashes from coming like before.

Have you considered feeding your baby soy milk? It might reduce the flareups b/c you know how eczema and milk together are..... they are partners in crime.

I am still on the Dead Sea Salt, the Mud soap for babies, and both my daughter and baby doesn't seem to have eczema flare ups much now. On the occasional day when it's really hot, and we don't have the air con as cold as it should be.....

Hi... I would recommend you try a dermatologist and keep an eye of the steriods they prescribe.

Have u tried moisturing her? QV cream is very good - available from Bonjour, I think. The other excellent option are Aveeno products - i have seen some in the Fanda shop in Central and also in the Wing on Dept store in Sheung wan. They are the best for eczema - are made out of oatmeal. Manufcatured by J&J but only sold in the US. If you can get your hands on it, it is the best

My son's eczema is caused by allergies to certain foods. better get that option checked too. when we took out the allergens, his skin became normal/very clear again. we don't use soap and lotion not steroids. we were given an natural oil bath and oil cream and it makes his skin feel very soft.

Hi mummybee

So sorry to hear of your little one's eczema. My daughter has really rough dry skin especially on the back of her legs and around her neck. I wanted to ask you which website did you use to order the Graham's Natural Alternative bath oil. I'm willing to give that a try.

Many thanks

Thanks for replying so quickly mummybee.

She does have eczema dryness and is constantly scratching herself to she bleeds. She doesn't have that many red pin-size spots like your daughter but I'm more concerned about the dryness. The dryness on both her neck and back of legs feel like sand paper. Just awful! I think its also to do with the pollution here in HK that makes it even worse. My daughters diet is quite good as far as I know and not really allergic to anything.

Anyway thanks for the website.

ps I'm using an emollient called 'diprobase' which is from the UK. Its quite thick and seems to help but I'm willing to try an alternative so that her skin is more supple.

I used an oil called Oilatum when i was a child, I use it on my baby now and it is lovely. I also just brought a lavender baby oil from B2B by Dimples Baby. Again, really great. I used to work with a nurse in the UK who spent several years as a burns victim nurse. She developed a cream with lavender, and it did amazing stuff for burnt skin. She advised me that lavender can have a similar result on eczema
