Bring her to my place and tell my Chinese Mother In Law under no circumstances is she to ever cut your child's hair. Come back 1 hour later and she will have a lovely uneven cut (ie put into piggytails and cut the ends off bluntly) - I am so so annoyed.
She is also v good at the extremely short fringe.

Oh sub, I know it's not funny, but I'm still giggling.
I was cutting my daughter's until now, she didn't have much hair and I kept thinking, how hard can it be? But it was starting to look homemade, even to me. So when we went to Sydney, I had her cut at the shop around the corner from the hotel. Then when we were in Bangkok last week I had her cut right there at the hotel...both cuts were really good, both times the staff got a complete kick out of cutting a toddlers hair, and both cuts were something in the order of HK $100. She just sits in my lap, no shampoo or anything, just a dry cut. But it's good, and much better than I was doing.
I'm only saying this in case you have a trip coming up...seems lots of places are cheaper and much less hassle than shlepping around HK, I mean, what could be easier than taking the hotel elevator downstairs?

Tala's in Sai Kung charge $90 for kids under 12, and the small kids can sit on a high stool and watch cartoons whilst having their hair done.

Please check but I am lead to believe the Toys r Us salon charges in the vicinity of $300 for a kids haircut. My friend took her son there when he was under one (imagine how little hair he had) for his first cut and walked out very short changed indeed. She was furious. We are in DB and that is the cost of an adult's do. Had a lovely cut the other day at Tung Chung of all places and all for $75! Bit off the track - sorry!

I had her cut finally at magic Mirror) at Toys R us.....it was expensive but being the first proper haircut(I was her hairdresser till now)...i wanted it to be a good beginning which it was ...no tears were shed and she was happy to sit on a Zebra. now she knows its not a big deal to let someone else(but mom) cut her hair and I might be more adventurous next time...It cost $230 BTW....But I am happy.
