It is almost half past three (am) and my small one (almost three) got up at half one and is still up! She hasnt been well but rather Ok now - at the tail end of a cold thing - but was rather restless and wanted to get up. She was sweaty when I picked her up but not feverish. I HOPE this is just one of those things. Any experience with an all night marathon? She is sooooo busy crafting and the like and in no mood for bed. Trust she will crash and burn at about seven and then I miss out on her going to playgroup cos she'll be too tired :(

Make the night time waking SSSSSOOOOOOOO boring to be awake at that time of night - don't turn on lights - don't make it a nice time to be up at all. Lights off listening to stories on CD, or classical music on. Limited interaction with the parents, and lie quietly. (you can lie next to her and sleep as well) It is sleep time - not play time!
Hopefully it will be a one off thing, but you may find it difficult to get her back to her normal sleep time after last nights adventure!

Happened to me two months ago when my little one had a fever for the first time. Up a few nights, then she slowly went back to normal. I put baby vicks on her and used encalyptus oil in our vaporiser. That helped her breathe but the silly vaporiser lit up on and off every 5 seconds and waking her up.

I love this website - dimac and mayc - thanks a bunch. You both provided great info. She was asleep earlier tonight and I am not expecting any trouble somehow - I feel it in my waters! We are NOT leaving the bedroom tonight. Gee she had some fun last night (0130 - 0500!!!!!). Gee Im an IDIOT!!! Miss Almost Three is turning into quite a handful. I thought we had the terrible twos but looking back, it was a breeze in comparison to the three year old thing. Ahhhh. God grant me patience....... Thanks again and again. Here's to awesome sleep and lots of it to all us mums and dads! I think that is the real contraception factor for hubby and me. Dimac - your kids must be grouse sleepers! ;)
