I'm in the middle of a Court Hearing. It seems the Judge dont buy my son's story because the Judge does not fully know or realize the problem of a Adult ADHD, He does not believe my sons in capable to answer the persecution question is due to his lack of concentration and due to his mental problem since he was todler. I am so desperate, so sad and why cant they understand that a ADHD is not usually a bad person but a naughty person who seems uncontrollable and undirected in their life. I stop him on Ritalin long time already because I dont want him to die from it. I feel so depressed, could not sleep, disorientated. It's my fault, I ruin his life. I am not a good mother. I should pay for this.

Quit blaming yourself, your son is an adult. By definition, adults make their own choices and reap the benefit of those choices. If he can't control his violent temper, then the judge will have to do whatever it takes to protect society from his outbursts. Most people can learn to control their behavior. Reaping the consequences of his behavior may actually help him since it appears other people have been making excuses. So quit making excuses and respect him enough to allow him to be a grownup. Cut the apron strings and go live your life. By the way, what do you mean die from ritalin? Yes it's a powerful drug but nobody who takes the prescription dose under the direction of a doctor is going to die from it. Sorry Sampaquita but the main thing to regret is not nipping this in the bud when he was five years old. Cause everybody has to learn self control sooner or later. But when somebody is an adult, there's no more blaming mommy, don't let him get by with that.

The judge will listen to a doctor not your son. If there is no doctor to testify for your son and give a professional opinion on how his illness can affect his self-control, it is not fair to insist the judge to take your son's word. Put yourself in the shoe of the victim. If your son is injured by someone who appears to be normal, will you believe that he is mentally ill without a doctor's opinion?
