Chickenpox Vaccine?

Hi all,

My Doctor suggested having 4 year old immunised for chickenpox, but does it work, heard mixed views on this.

In UK the kids don't get a chance to be vaccinated against Chickenpox, they just suffer the spots!

Any opinions? Thanks!

My 17 month old just had it, no ill effects that we could see, who knows if it works.

I had my 3 year old vaccinated when she was 2, the vaccine has worked so far but I know there's always a very small chance you can still catch it even if you have had the vaccine or actually had the virus itself. I chose to have my child vaccinated because I caught Chicken Pox when I was 20 and it was so so horrible as my body was completely covered in the spots.

My 2 years old boy is vaccinated. Even if it doesn't cover for the whole life, if you get it later it'll be a very light chicken pox.

Works in 80%, the other 20% may get chickenpox but much milder. It is part of the routine childhood vaccinations in USA, Japan, Australia.

Good resource for information
