I made the dot cards and many flash cards for my son years ago. I can't remember the size, I think we were told 12"x12" was the best. The dots were 1 -100, to give them the idea that 4 is more than 1, 10 is more than 6 etc. The picture cards, I scoured chaity shops for old books on planes, cars, dogs, acts etc, and magazines, posters.
