Does anyone know where I can buy almond oil? Its to treat dry skin on a sensitive skinned baby.
Thanks

I recently bought a body lotion for my son from Sogo, near the bedding section (pillows etc). It was a brand called TERRA FIRMA, has a Koala ith nappy on it, it contains Sweet Almond Oil, so don't know if that will help you? Quite pricey but supposed to be good quality.

When I was pregnant I bought almond oil from a shop in Central. It's on the same side of the street as Annerley midwives, almost opposite Pizza Express.

Make sure your baby doesnt have a nut allergy befire you use it as the skin will absorb the almond's properties.

Actually come to think of it, does using Almond oil on kids promote future nut allergies? I seem to recall that it may, bcos my niece developed a nut allergy when she was five and I think the Drs said it may have been dur to using ground nut oil based creams as a baby???

Where did you get the Grahams oil?

I don't know about the allergy question (it's worth finding out) but my understanding is that sweet almond oil is the gentlest for a new baby. I used the one by Aromababy, available from Bumps to Babes and Annerly Midwives. It was lovely (as was their whole line of products.)

Vaseline is petroleum based and can lead to further skin problems.
Instead of trying to treat dry skin and excema from the outside in - why not try from inside out by supplementing diet with 1tsp flax seed oil a day mixed with the milk - it is tasteless, and has huge benefits for skin conditions, brain development and overall health because of the omega- 3 properties and other good stuff - increase the amount of omega-3 in your childs diet and you will see amazing changes.
Also look at the other possible irritants - what about the clothes washing detergent? Do you use powder or liquid ? How much is put into the wash? (If you have a DH you will probably find they use too much)This could be an irritant for your babies skin. Use a liquid with your babies clothes and use bare minimum, (less than 1/2 of recommended amount) and wash them seperately to the big peoples clothes. - also look at only putting on cotton based clothing - no man made fibres.
The body soap that is recommended for babies has perfumes- eliminate perfumed soaps and detergents, what about talcom powder? Known to be an irritant and cancer causing.
Aqueous cream for washing is sensational - also oats in the bath water will clear up most skin conditions. (put them in a closed stocking foot to minimise the clean up).
Try to find the cause rather than treat the symptoms only - it is not normal for babies to have dry skin - treat from the inside and you will see amazing results very quickly.

We use GrapeSeed Oil for our daily massage - from CitySuper.
saying that, baby has some dry skin, but not eczma, so no idea if it works on that.
Dimac - what age did you start flax seed oil?

I only discovere dit for myself in the last year - but my sister in law has a child with bad excema and put the flax seed oil in her diet and it cleared up within 2 weeks. Her child was 4 years old - I think you can start quite young - just modify the dosage.
