Surely in this case might is right? If your dog doesn't want to walk, then why don't you just make him walk? Or is he bigger than you??

I assume his fear has passed, but sometimes you can calm an animal by reassuring them and acting calm yourself. Just like children.

My old yorkie was also very conscious of how she looked after shaving. She would have hide herself or sat down all the time so nobody would see her naked axx.....
Try to be encouraging. Bring some of his favorite treats & see if he walks.

that is so true about animals' feelings and sentiments. my original dog's granddaughter (a poodle-shih tzu mutt) truly believes she is a woman - human variety - and gets very upset when she spots herself in a mirror. (we think she thinks she looks like my sister: extremely cute).
when my son was born, she went through a phase of refusing to walk, demanding to be carried around just like the new baby. she even stopped eating out of her bowl - she would put her food on the maid's BED, wanting to be hand-fed. of course we nipped that in the bud, but not without much sulking and acting out on her part.
thirteen years later she's over all that now, except that she still does believe she is a cute young girl.

LOL not too long. And he will appreciate being cooler in the hot summer and not having to have tangles combed out. Once the hair is about 5 cm long he'll feel okay.
