You had sound when you turned the computer off, after connecting the new monitor right? I assume you have seperate speakers - not built into the monitor.
First make sure the speakers are plugged in properly, turned on, and the volume is turned up. No headphones plugged in anywhere (if there are, do they have sound)? Then check on the task bar and click on the little speaker that should be there to open that settings window - make sure the the sound is turned up and not muted.
Try putting a music cd in and see if it plays sound.
Still have no sound? Did you do anything else beside swap monitors?
