I'm guessing it's the landlord's responsibility as I don't think a tree falling down is "usual wear and tear" and would probably fall into the natural disaster category.

Anyone who enters your place without your authorization is trespassing including the landlord. Usually tenancy agreements will have a clause stating that the landlord has the right to come and inspect the premises but he is required to give you x days/weeks prior notice.
