My 14 month old only has about 5 teeth, the two center front, two center bottom, one more upper, and three trying to come out. Some have told me it is because she is still BF. Any thoughts? It is not a problem as she mashes food well with her gums, I am just curious as to why EVERY other child her age and younger seems to have a full set of teeth!

I wouldn't worry too much, when my son was 14 months old he only had 3 more than your kid.

My son has his first birthday next week and only 2! teeth. I am not worried. Think this way, the later they come the longer they last :)

Here is a good one: my daughter didn't have her FIRST tooth till she was 13 months!!!! But they all came out eventually. Now she is 7 and is just starting to have her first loose tooth while almost all other children of her age already have at least 4 new ones.
So just wait.

My dentist in Seoul told me that in the long run, kids who get their teeth slower (I almost wrote grow their teeth...wow) actually have better dental health as children. It generally means that they'll get their adult teeth later (like MC) and therefore reduce their chance of cavities and tooth decay with both their baby teeth AND their adult teeth...bonus for all you with children with late blooming teeth. (My daughter got hers VERY early...gotta always keep on her to brush her teeth.)
Mummybee - your baby sounds like my elder one - I was so scared of her two upper teeth -they seemd so huge!! and I also thought she had a weird underbite thing - but it all seemed to sort itself out when everything else filled in. Now my daughter has a beautiful set of chompers. (she gets lots of compiments on her teeth.)

What hkchoichoi said is true as I was told the same by dentists. Indeed my daughter has a nice set of teeth, well spaced and no problems. Even new ones I can see are lined up very nicely. It is partially genetic as everyone on my husband'side had the same "issue"
