Re the Rubik's Cube, didn't Mefferts, HK-based online store, have them?

I saw one at Lane Crawford the other day - of course with LC's prices.

I didn't know these things were making a comeback! If it weren't for removable stickers, I never would've solved that thing!

Anyway, I just saw some two days ago at PageOne bookstore in times Square, 9th floor.

Have they ever included instruction manuals? I remember in the early 80's they didn't. What instruction manuals do you need? Mix it up; try to solve.

If you mean a book on how to solve it, as far as I know we've always had to buy those. Now, though, I'm sure it's something you can find online.

Well, when I was a kid in the 80's I bought the book. I've forgotten some of the patterns, especially at the end, but I can still solve the thing if I work at it through trial and error.

Basic strategy is to solve one color first, with all overhanging sides correct (start with four corners). Then solve the opposite color. Then you can solve the middle four pieces.

What a great thread! Glad to hear so many people are still so interested in Rubik's cube. :) Speaking of which I need to get a new one myself, so I can finally rid my keychain size one which has kept me going for a while. If anyone needs some help or tips solving it, please let me know! I've never read the book, but someone taught me many moons ago, and to this day, I still actually remember it...
