Traditionally it was 4'x6'. But if you go for that, you can cross any gweilo or ABC male off your prospective tenant list... for any degree of comfort, a bed needs to be 6 inches longer than its taller occupant.
Now it's usually 4'6"x6'3" (same as US/UK/Oz double, but smaller than a Continental double - which is 55"x79").
PS. I'm astonished that a local builder gave you a size in millimetres - even local engineers and doctors can be hazy on the metric system. Ask any Chinese in your office how many millimetres tall they are, and I bet not one - except CBCs - can tell you!

Rememember your feet are not at right angles to your body when you sleep on your tummy (25% of each night)... a 5'10" person measures 6' from head to toe when sleeping on their tummy, and most people don't like to sleep with their head glued to their headboard, so you need to allow 3" at the top. So a 5'10" person needs a 6'3" bed. But your money, your choice!
