Would they be the flying ants? they drop their wings as soon as they get inside and they can get through closed window and they look a little weavil like.

We have had the same..they are termites. When they swarm they head straight for light as they are blind. We didnt realise they were swarming and had lights on in our middle floor and although patio doors were closed a few did manage to get in. We sprayed copiously with raid and swept them up. I have it on good authority that we should have no infestation problems as long as they didn't 'meet up and mate' Still horrid little things and found myself dreaming of them last night!!
