I have a friend who sends her 4-year old daughter to an international preschool in the morning and to a local kindergarten in the afternoon. The goal is for her to pick up english and cantonese/mandarin fluently (the mother doesn't speak chinese). It seems to work as her daughter does speak all three languages well. However, I am more concerned whether it's too much for the child ... morning and afternoon class with only an hour of lunch break in between ? Your opion, please....

Every child is diff. No issue with those kids with lots of "fuel" to burn =). But generally for K1 should be okay- as I don't see homework yet. My daughter in Putonghua school since mommy speak broken putonghua. Just a penny of my thought.

Not something I would personally do as I don't think kids should spend that much time sitting in a classroom and I'd rather my son spend the afternoon kicking a soccer ball, swimming or cycling. They have the rest of their lives to sit in classroom, why start so early? My son is now in year 3 and I'm trying to make sure he gets enough playtime in between homework, reading and spelling.
